WhatsApp templates are pre-approved message formats required for sending messages outside the 24-hour window. Templates must be submitted to Meta for approval before they can be used.
Creating a Template
Go to WhatsApp > Templates and click 'Create Template'. Choose a category: Marketing for promotional content, Utility for transactional updates like order confirmations and shipping notifications, or Authentication for OTP and verification codes. Enter a template name (lowercase, underscores only), select the language, and compose your message. You can include variables using double curly braces like {{1}}, {{2}} for dynamic content.
Template Types
Chatber supports Standard templates with text and optional buttons, Carousel templates with multiple scrollable cards each with an image and buttons, and Limited Time Offer (LTO) templates with a countdown timer for urgency.
Template Approval
After creating a template, it is submitted to Meta for review. This usually takes a few minutes to a few hours. The status will show as Pending during review, Approved when ready to use, or Rejected if it violates WhatsApp's policies. You can check the status on the Templates page.
Template Limits
The number of template slots depends on your plan: Starter has 5, Growth has 15, Business has 50, and Enterprise has unlimited. You can see your current usage on the Templates page.
